Details

Application Areas:

Intumescent acoustic acrylic prevents the fire and smoke spreading through joints and openings in walls and floors. It expands when heated and produces an efficient seal against fire, smoke and gas

Classified for fire sealing all types of constructions such as drywalls, masonry walls, concrete walls, concrete floors and composite floors

Classified for fire stopping of service penetrations in crosslaminated timber walls and floors

Classified for fire sealing all types of building service penetrations such as cables, cable bundles, cable conduits, steel pipes, copper pipes, composite pipes, PVC pipes, PE pipes, ABS pipes, PP pipes and PEX pipe-in-pipes

Classified for commonly used pipe insulation such as stone wool, glass wool, elastomeric and phenolic, both interupted and continuous through the fire seal

Classified for fire sealing against timber, steel and aluminum such as door and window frames

The product can be applied in combination with, for example, pipe collars, pipe wraps and fire batts

Advantages:

  • Extended tests and (local) certifications
    • EN1366-3, EN1366-4, ETA-23/0995 and ETA-23/0994, UL-EU, BVB
    • EC1+, A+
    • Tested according to the DGNB standards
  • Excellent features
    • Fire resistance up to 4 hours and a joint movement up to 12,5%
    • Air, smoke and gas tight and very high sound insulation
    • 24 months storage time
  • User friendly
    • Faster application times and minimal material use due to its ability to achieve high fire ratings and single sided applications
    • Paintable and very easy to clean
    • No primer needed for most materials and suitable for most surfaces, including concrete, masonry, steel, gypsum, glass, plastics and most non-porous surfaces

Processing information

Before applying the intumescent acrylic, ensure that the surface of all service penetrations and surrounding construction is free from all loose contaminants, dust and grease
When installing the sealant in gypsum boards, the exposed edges of the board can be moisturized with water. Alternatively, the intumescent acrylic can be diluted with water and used to prime the surfaces to help adhesion and prevent excessive joint shrinkage
Intumescent acrylic can be used with a suitable filling material i.e. stone wool in order to secure correct width to depth ratio, and to reduce the shrinking of the sealant during curing
When installing any backing material, cut it slightly oversized and insert into the gap ensuring a tight friction fit. Ensure that the correct depth is achieved
Fill the gap or joint with the intumescent acrylic to the required depth. Apply the sealant generously to prevent air bubbles
Finish the seal with a moist spatula or brush
Tools should be cleaned after use with water
Hands can be cleaned with water and soap

Advice

Suitable for use with most materials, but should not be used in direct contact with bituminous materials
Suitable for single service penetrations only
Should not be used in permanently damp areas
Should not be used in joints with high movement
As the intumescent acrylic is water based, in cases where corrosion protection is a problem, some metals may require a barrier between the sealant and the metal surface prior to this installation
