Details

Application Areas:

The BERNER X-treme adhesive foam is perfect for bonding finished elements in corners, decorative details and (small) bricklaying projects. It works on almost all kind of (construction) material, like for example:
Metal, Wood, Concrete, Brick, Gypsum, Plaster, PVC, Plastic, Glass, Aluminum, Cardboard, Styrofoam

Advantages:

  • User friendlier compared to traditional solutions
    • All you need is 1 canister and a gun so no extra products need to be taken
    • 1 can has a yield of 40 m which is equal to 1 bag with powder of 25 kg each and ~12 l of water
    • Preparation time of the most powder adhesives is at least 15 min. and they need a minimum of 24 hours to cure. The BERNER X-treme adhesive foam is immediately ready to use and the product is cured after 15 min.
  • Multifunctional
    • You only need 1 foam which is useable on all kind of construction materials
    • The X-treme adhesive foam can also be used for thermal insulation
  • Saving money
    • Much faster and easier to use compared to powder based adhesives
    • 1 can is cheaper than 1 bag of 25 kilo powder and ~12 liter of water
    • BERNER X-treme adhesive foam is easier to store and cleaner in use compared to the traditional solutions and you create no dust and dirt

Processing information

The substrate should be stable, even, dry, free of dust, powder, oil and grease
Put on protective gloves
Vigorously shake the can (10-20 seconds, the valve facing down) to mix the components
Screw the can onto the applicator (Working position of the can is “valve facing down”)
Apply the adhesive along the surface forming bead with required diameter 2-3 cm
Adjust application speed by controlling gun’s trigger in order to maintain the required bead diameter
Wait 1 min. after application and join the elements together
Position of bonded elements can be corrected within max 5 minutes
Full cure time 24 h. Once fully cured, adhesive is easy to cut, sand, plaster or paint

Advice

If the surface is covered with a (hydrophobic) coating or another substance, it is necessary to sand the surface a little with a grinding tool or sand paper to increase the overall adhesion
In case of bonding large surfaces such as drywall or OSB, the adhesive should cover ≥ 5 % of the bonding surface. In case of bonding small decorative elements, the adhesive should cover ≥ 50 % of bonding surface
In the case of bonding elements to the ceiling or vertical surface, the elements must be temporarily fixed in place until they reach the grip
Recommended joint thickness is ≤ 10 mm. It is necessary to level the surface when unevenness exceeds 1 cm
If the can is too cold, it should be brought to room temperature, e.g. by immersion in warm water with temperature up to 30 °C or leaving it in room temperature for at least 24 h
Avoid that the application temperature is lower than the can temperature
It is recommend to use mechanical connectors and distances
Protect against UV with e.g. plaster, paint
Open package should be used within 1 week
The product does not adhere to polyethylene, polypropylene, polyamide, silicones and teflon
Use the BERNER Pistol Cleaner to remove uncured adhesive. Hardened adhesive can be removed mechanically (e.g. with a knife) or with the BERNER PU foam fighter
The adhesive should not be used in spaces without access of fresh air and poorly ventilated rooms, or in places exposed to direct sunlight
Please note that from 24 August 2023, appropriate training on the safe handling of diisocyanates must be completed prior to use. For more information on the training, please visit
